  Four Seasons Chinese Version 中文版

Hong Kong is just below the Tropic of Cancer and enjoys a largely sub-tropical climate. But it also enjoys a temperate climate for much of the year and experiences four distinct seasons as opposed to three tropical ones. The four seasons are in line with the Northern Hemisphere.

Four Seasons
Winter: 10°C (57°F) to 20°C (68°F)
January - March
Winter is characterised by pleasant breezes, sunshine and comfortable temperatures, although January and February are often cloudy and can be chilly with dry northerly winds. Temperature at nights can drop to around 10°C and it often feels much colder since almost no buildings possess central heating. Historically, Hong Kong's mountains have sometimes had a touch of frost but it has never snowed.

Spring: 18°C (64°F) to 27°C (80°F)
March - April
In spring, Hong Kong experiences temperate weather with cloud cover, occasional rain and fog. As the humidity and temperature increase, poor visibility is encountered. In this season, the weather is unpredictable, with a wide range of temperatures. This is also the rainy season and as temperature starts to rise, the humidity increases.

Summer: 27°C (79°F) to 37°C (91°F)
Mid April - September
The summer months are uncomfortably hot and humid with poor visibility and air quality. There are occasional thunderstorms, which can be intense. Afternoon temperatures typically hover around the early to mid-30s and remain around 26°C at night with high humidity. Air conditioning is essential in these sticky months and typhoons often strike, sometimes reducing the city to a standstill.

Autumn: 18°C (64°F) to 28°C (82°F)
October - December
Winds become more easterly in direction in autumn as clouds disperse and humidity decreases rapidly. Sunshine and cooler air make this a pleasant time of year, when the temperature usually drops and the weather becomes less humid.
