Hong Kong’s transportation system is excellent. Transportation is generally quick and convenient. There are various modes of transport that cover all areas, and they link the city to Macau and the southern coast of Mainland China.
However, like all major cities, it’s best to avoid rush hours (8.00 am-10.00 am and 5.00 pm-7.00 pm) when possible. Traffic can be quite bad especially on a rainy day.
Almost all residents have an Octopous card, a hi-tech debit care, which can be used for almost all kinds of transport. Visitors are advised to purchase one if they frequently travel on public transport.
